Sean Raspet & Maxwell Williams Missense

  • Olfactory Art Keller 25 Henry Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

"Missense", a series of conceptual olfactory works created collaboratively by artists Sean Raspet and Maxwell Williams, will open this Thursday. Join us for the opening reception from 5pm to 8pm!

"Captive Demo [A1, E12, E34, ZX5]", pictured above, is a scent you have never smelled before. It is a mix of four novel molecules, A1, E12, E34, ZX5, developed by Sean Raspet. Maxwell Williams created a wholly novel fragrance that foregrounds those molecules.

The term “captive” refers to molecules created by a fragrance house that have not been released to the public. Until the captive molecule is released, only that fragrance house’s perfumers have access to the captive molecules. The only way for an independent perfumer to make a wholly original perfume is to develop their own molecules, as is demonstrated with "Captive Demo [A1, E12, E34, ZX5]".
