What is World Taste & Smell Day?
World Taste & Smell Day is a day of appreciation of our essential senses of taste and smell. It is a global day to celebrate all the ways taste and smell enhance our lives, to unite the community of people working in flavor and fragrance, and to raise awareness about taste and/or smell dysfunctions.
Why World Taste & Smell Day?
The idea for a global day was born during the pandemic, when millions of people worldwide experienced taste and/or smell loss due to Covid. Millions more people experience smell or taste challenges because of allergies, brain injury, genetics, chemical exposure, drug reactions, physical conditions, and diseases including other viruses, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Sjogren's. September 14th was established as World Taste and Smell Day with the goal to elevate and celebrate our senses of smell and taste.
In its first two years, World Taste & Smell Day has been celebrated worldwide with webcasts featuring luminaries in fragrance and flavor, an Exploratorium of all that is wondrous about these senses, and events in China, the UK, EU, the Philippines, Canada, and all over the USA! We are grateful for your support.

Together, we envision a future where taste and smell are widely recognized as critically important to our lives, and where:
The general public acknowledges the significance of taste and smell to our overall happiness, health, and well-being.
There is widespread awareness of the prevalence of taste and smell disorders, and individuals living with compromised taste and smell are treated with understanding and support by the general public and medical community.
Discoveries and innovations that enhance our appreciation and understanding of these senses are celebrated and embraced.
